Wanna run but no kaki? Jom lah run together... 

In GEMS, as part of the movement to Being ME (Muslimah Empowered), we conduct free weekly activities for the community, at least 10 different activities every week all over Singapore. We enjoin an active lifestyle, instill discipline, create hope, make obsolete self-made mental barriers and self limiting beliefs, harness confidence and forge camaraderie amongst the community. It requires great effort and takes away precious time but it is a great feeling to see others believe in themselves again. We try our best to make them see, that the ONLY obstacle in their way is themselves and we hope that when they can see and believe, they will pass this on and empower others. Its a beautiful experience to connect with someone while we run, walk, cycle, hike, paddle, swim... struggle through the many things we do and at the end, when they completed a task they never thought they ever could, an attempt no matter how small, their sheer joy and sense of pride in themselves, is the reward we embrace.

We bring people out into the sun, under the sky because outdoor environment encourages skills such as problem-solving and negotiating risk which are for development regardless of age. Studies have shown that individuals who learn outdoors develop: a sense of self, independence, confidence, creativity, decision-making and problem-solving skills, empathy towards others, sportsmanship, motor skills, self-discipline and initiative. Outdoor activities builds the community, increases connections in so many levels (with self, others, nature), builds culture, develop positive feelings and creates lifetime memories... What we are destined to do as human beings, is to find our talents and through our talents, use that to benefit mankind. We don't wake up everyday with breakfast on a silver platter or money in our pocket but we love what we do and we do what we love... 

There is no better time to start than NOW! We know there are many out there who wants to start their fitness journey but are feeling apprehensive. Don't be. Let us help you to start with this monthly/weekly community fun activities. Cannot run? Don't worry, we will start slow at your level.... we don't just run together, we cycle, swim, hike, climb... and do many other things too!
